Brooks ID

I have been a part of Brooks Fanatics for the last 3 (?) years. It has been fun to be a part of such a great group of talented runners from all over the US. This year we were told that if we wanted to apply to become a member of Brooks ID we were to submit an email, but we were told that getting accepted was going to be a lot harder this year and that Brooks was being more selective as to which runners would get to be a part of 2013 program. We were told if we thought we had a chance of getting selected we should email to get an application emailed to us. I hesitated, but emailed and was surprised at his quick response telling me that he would send me an application in a couple of weeks. 

In mid November I received my application. I didn't complete it right away and waited until the last couple of days before I submitted my information. I never told anybody that I was applying because I didn't want people to know that I had been rejected if I wasn't accepted. I tend to keep a lot of secrets. :-)

There are different types of sponsorship through the ID program: Elite, Coaches, Media, and Inspirational to name a few. I decided to apply for the media sponsorship because I knew of a couple of other runners who were selected in that category for 2012. The application was straightforward and took me less than 10 minutes to complete. After I submitted my information I was told that acceptance emails would go out in mid December. 

On Monday of last week I had remembered that acceptance emails would probably start arriving this week. I suddenly got pretty nervous! On Friday I saw some of my friends talking about it on facebook saying that they received their letters earlier in the day. I knew that I would probably be getting mine. Insert more nerves here. 

At the end of another stress filled week I was thrilled to see an email in my inbox congratulating and offering me a Brooks ID media sponsorship for 2013. Insert jumping up and down with excitement!

Even 5 days later I am still in shock that I was accepted. I am very excited to have the opportunity to sponsor and represent Brooks. I love Brooks Running and have been a huge supporter of their company since 2002 when I got my first pair of Adrenaline running shoes. 

What is Brooks ID?

Brooks I.D. stands for Inspire Daily. These two simple words guide the principles of the program. Brooks I.D. is made up of over 800 members who are active in their running communities and share a passion for the Brooks brand. They are runners who are winners in their own right: Winning their age divisions, accomplishing their personal goals, pushing their own limits, and, by extension, encouraging others to do the same. They are coaches, mentors, and leaders (source). Brooks I.D. athletes members use their athletic talent to help carry out the Brooks mission: To inspire people to run and be active. We look for athletes who have a passion for Brooks, race and train in Brooks' shoes and apparel, and enthusiastically evangelize the brand (source). RUN HAPPY!
