The Aramco Houston Half Marathon is quickly approaching (5 days!). I am pretty excited to go some place that I have never been and get in some much needed vacation time. I have always wanted to visit Texas so when I got an automatic qualifying time for this race, I figured it would be the perfect opportunity.
I have no goals for this race, but to have fun. If you had asked me what I wanted to run in Houston back in November, I would have said I wanted to run a sub 1:30. Now, not so much. I don't even think my body is capable of that at this point. So, no goals for Houston. I just want to enjoy the time away with my hubby and HAVE FUN.
I have spent the last couple of days trying to put together some type of itinerary of the places we both want to visit while we are there. We get into Houston Friday afternoon. After we check into our hotel and retrieve our rental car the rest of the afternoon will be dedicated to the expo. Yay, I LOVE expos!!!!
Saturday we will be getting up bright and early to watch the Olympic Trials. To say that I am absolutely, positively stoked to be there in person is an understatement. I am looking forward to meeting up with a goup of bloggers Saturday morning organized by Amanda @ Run to the Finish. The rest of Saturday will be spent playing tourist. Sunday morning is my 1/2 marathon and then the rest of the day we will be tourists again. On Monday we might drive to Galveston for the day. On Tuesday we are driving to NOLA where I have a ton of stuff that I am dying to see. We will be playing tourists in NOLA for a couple of days before driving back to Houston to fly home. My hubby also wants to stop by Cameron, LA on the way to NOLA. I guess I will let him. :-)

ReplyDeleteGood luck. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI lived in Houston for 7 years. So....Goode Company BBQ is a very popular place to go! There is a hole in the wall in NW houston I liked called 529 BBQ as well!
ReplyDeleteAlso, a funny chicken fried steak place is "hickory hallow". And GO TO CENTRAL MARKET (it's like a whole foods even better!!!).
Have fun!!
ReplyDeleteI'm curious about the automatic qualifying time thing...I've poked around some & I can't find anything about it. How did you find out?
Go get em girl! U will do better than u think!!xx
ReplyDeleteHi Tasha! I found your blog through Amanda and have now done lots of stalking around on here :) I am running Houston this weekend too and looking forward to meeting you on Saturday!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all of the good luck wishes. :-)
ReplyDeleteMargs- When I googled great BBQ places in Houston Goode Co. was one of them. Thanks for the recommendation- I will be checking it out. Hickory Hallow sounds like a restaurant my hubby would like. We might have to go there also.
Angela- I heard about the automatic qualifying through a group in Spokane that also are going down to run. Check out this page for more info: http://www.chevronhoustonmarathon.com/GeneralInfo/FAQ.cfm
Corey- Can't wait to meet you also. IF we don't happen to meet up GOOD LUCK!
Hi Tasha! Like Corey, I found you through Amanda, and hope to meet you Sat morning at the trials! Enjoy Houston--we moved to Houston this summer (from Ithaca, NY) so it was a big switch, but we've been pleasantly surprised. I second Goode Co BBQ, though I'm not a big BBQ fan, it's the place to go. :)
