Brooks Gear Review #2

This is the type of gear that gets me excited for nice weather- shorts & tanks! I selected a few of these pieces with my marathon in mind. I think at least one of these pairs of shorts and tanks will be my race day attire for Windermere.

If you click on the price it will take you directly to the product on Brooks Running.

Women's Glycerin Short
$40
Color options: black, black/hot pink, blue, purple
On sale for $26
Color options: grey, light teal, light tea/dark teal, light blue, dark pink, purple/lime green, pink

The glycerin shorts are some of my favorite shorts to work out in. I liked them so much that these are my second pair. There is a reason why these shorts are a “top seller” for Brooks. The fabric is light weight and comfortable. I am not exactly sure what the fabric is, it is almost stretchy, but not quite.  These just might be my marathon shorts come May!

Women's D'lite Mesh Tank
$28
Color options: grey, white, neon yellow, pink
On sale for $18
Color options: green, teal, dark pink, hot pink, yellow orange

I really like this top. It is a very bright pink, pretty much a hot pink. It is really comfortable to run in, I almost feel like I am not wearing a top when I am in it. When I originally purchased this top I was thinking about  wearing it for Windermere because I could easily screen print my name on it. I wore this top to the Tri Cities 1/2 Marathon a couple of weeks ago, but it was too cold to take off my long sleeve top so nobody knew that I was wearing it.

Women's Versatile 3.5" Woven Short
$30
Color options: grey, black/white, white/grey, blue/yellow, teal/purple polka dots, white/grey polka dots, pink/grey polka dots
On sale for $19
white/grey, white/purple, lime green/purple, light teal/dark teal, pink/teal, orange/teal, blue/grey flower print, multi color flower print

These shorts are adorable, I have received so many compliments on them! At first I thought that this was a new product for Brooks, but then I realized that they weren't. Not sure why I had never noticed them before. I love the detail on the back, they almost remind me of a pair of Lululemon shorts (but way cuter!!!).  In the short time frame that I have had these shorts, I have worn them to Farmgirlfit 3 times and have worn them running more times than I can count. I love how the shorts match my Farmgirlfit tank too!

Women's D'lite Micro Mesh Racerback
$25
Color options: white, neon yellow, teal, blue, purple, hot pink, yellow stripes, pink stripes, pink flower, blue flower
On sale for $16
Color options: light teal, light blue, pink, yellow, orange

The D’lite Racerbank came as a little bit of shock to me. Can you say “see through”? I instantly thought I was going to be returning this top until I tried it on. Once you actually have it on, it doesn’t seem so see through and is very light weight and comfortable. I wore it in my Hot Chocolate race and will probably be wearing it a lot come summer. Double bonus about this top? The lines work great for pinning on bib numbers! I wore this top for the Hot Chocolate 5K and got a lot of compliments on it. I thought I might feel a touch insecure in it, but I didn't.

*Also comes in a reversible option

Women's D'lite Racer 2 1/2 inch short
$50
Color options: pink, blue grey

When I first saw the price tag on the D’lite shorts I was a little shocked. $50 for a pair of running shorts!? I went ahead and ordered them because I liked the color and also liked how they matched the D’lite mesh tank I was also ordering. The shorts are actually fantastic. Brooks incorporated a lot of detail into the design. On the back there are two places to hold gels and a small back pocket that would hold your car keys or an additional gel. The fabric is very light weight and comfortable. They are perfect for distance running and might even be in contention to be my marathon shorts.

Questions for you:
What is your favorite race outfit to wear?
Is anyone else loving how neon colors are in right now?

  2. I wore the D'lite tank for my marathon last weekend. :) I love the look of those racing shorts. Thanks for posting. Let me know how you like running in them. I just hate when shorts bunch up inside my legs.

    1. I think I might where the D'lite tank for my marathon too. I love how bright it is and plus it is pink. :-)

I will let you know how the shorts feel on more runs. I have only worn them twice and it was for shorter distances. They felt pretty good, but I know what you mean about the bunching up part. Not fun and annoying!

  3. Those grey shorts are insanely lulueeque cute and for a way better price. I want me some of those. It is all really cute and you look great in it! I keep looking at those mesh tanks, may have to cave in and buy one.

  5. I wear the same ol' Target and Old Navy running clothes...plus a lulu item here and there. Oh and actually my running shorts are Nike racing shorts. So I'm truly a running clothes brand mixture!

    1. You get really cute stuff from Old Navy. I have yet to make it in to check out their stuff. Target has great deals and really high quality stuff also. I have a lot of Target things and nike shorts from before I got my Brooks gig.

  6. I love how neon is back!!! So great! My problem with running shorts is my thighs are just too thick so they chaff - so not fun. I always wear either spandex under shorts or I've fallen into just wearing capris no matter the weather. I thought for sure once I lost all my weight my inner thighs wouldn't touch, alas they still do - curse my big stocky legs that rock it on the bike...oh-wait-no. Curse you stinkin cute running shorts that chaff...hahaha!

    1. Lululemon prices are freaking ridiculous! I have a couple of things from them, but not a lot. I cannot justify the prices at all. Love Brooks!

  10. This is a really helpful review Tasha - those racer shorts sound fantastic and I love the look of your first outfit combination :) I've been trying to find more running gear with pockets now I'm trying to carry more than just keys (gel / equivalent) so having multiple pockets in shorts would be great!

    1. You would love the racer shorts for gels then. I haven't actually worn them on a longer run yet so I can use them, but I think that they would be perfect.

I liked the first outfit combo too. That is what I am leaning towards for my marathon. :-)
