Friday Favorites: Active Accessories

I love how the social world of twitter connects you with so many amazing companies and people. Through twitter I recently came across a company called Active Accessories. I really enjoyed my tweets to Karen and loved finding out that she also was a former collegiate runner. When she asked if I would like to review some of their products I was ecstatic. She sent me two products to review:

On-The-Go Hair Bands & the On-The-Go accessory pouch.

The On-The-Go Hair bands are described as being very versatile & comfortable. After testing these hair bands out, I have to agree!

The On-The-Go Hair bands are something that I could easily wear on my wrist at work and still look stylish. An added bonus is that they are comfortable to wear around your wrists and don’t leave nasty red rings from having your circulation cut off!

I have super fine hair so a lot of hair bands don’t work well for me when I am working out. When I am getting my sweat on, I am pretty intense. I need something to keep my hair in place. I put the On-The-Go Hair Bands to the test with a grueling crossfit workout (box jumps, pull ups, kettle bell swings, cleans) and a 6 mile tempo run. In both workouts my hair stayed in place perfectly and I didn’t have to mess around with my ponytail. Not having to waste extra energy playing with my hair during a workout is something I appreciate. When I removed the On-The-Go Hair band after my workout I wasn’t cringing because I was pulling half of my hair out either.

The on the go hair bands normally retail for $13.99 for a 6 pack, but are on sale for $8.99 on Amazon. They come in some great colors combinations too:
Cool
Elegant
Warm
Neutral Print
Polka Dot

When you go to the gym, where do you put your jewelry? If you are like me, you might put your wedding band and watch in a side pocket of your gym bag with a million other things. When you get done with your workout there is sometimes the panic of not being able to locate your ring or you forget which pocket you placed your jewelry in. There has been at least one instance where I thought I had lost my wedding band and I spent an hour tearing apart my bag and car trying to locate it.

The On-The-Go Accessory Pouch is the perfect solution to this problem. It is small enough to not take up a lot of room in your workout bag and has a wrist strip that makes it easy to locate or carry. The pouch features a zippered pocket on the inside where you can place your rings, earrings, or watch. I also put my bobby pins in the zippered pocket. The other side features an additional non zippered pocket with elastic casing on the top to keep your belongings in place. I found that this was great place to store my On-The-Go Hair Bands, headbands, debit card & driver’s license. Since the entire accessory pouch is zippered it is also a great place to store your phone. When I go to my crossfit gym I can just grab my On-The-Go Accessory pouch and my water bottle, leaving my purse at home. The accessory pouch also will easily fit into your back packet for a night out on the town or a quick trip to the grocery store.

The On-The-Go Accessory Pouch is described as being the perfect size and water resistant. I didn’t test out how well it was water resistant, but I will say that it is the perfect size. For $14.95 onAmazon, this is a must have for any gym enthusiast.

Thank you to Karen and Active Accessories for letting me review both of these fabulous products!

**I was not compensated for my thoughts on this review. The opinions of these two products were my own.

    1. Isn't it crazy how many companies make products just for running or working out? I love finding new companies to support and trying out new products that I might not have otherwise.

  8. I love the look of those hair bands! My hair tends to stay in place (well, it flies all over the place at the front but that's held largely under control with a hat / hair clips :P) but I get the ripping of hair at the end all the time. My hair also ends up wrapped around the elastics and they end up so disgusting! I think these would be a much better option.

    1. They really are a better option. I haven't noticed my hair wrapping around the bands when I take them out and they also don't pull my hair out. They are super comfy to wear. I have worn them for the last week and also have noticed that they havne't stretched out. They are a great find!
