I have put in some massive miles compared to what
I had been previously running. In total I will have run 162.19 miles further
training for the Eugene Marathon. I have
run much harder and faster than I thought I was even capable of.
Looking back on my training schedule for Eugene, I
am quite pleased with the number of workouts I completed and the mileage I was
able to maintain. This marked my first marathon training with an actual coach-
I think I made a wise decision to seek some professional guidance. I like that
he truly understands both my short & long term running goals. My training
plan with my coach was for 11 weeks (week 1 was on my own).
I started to have issues with my back & stride
during week 6 which forced me to swap and/or miss some workouts from week 7
until week 10. Thankfully chiropractor and physical therapy appointments helped
me keep a serious injury from forming. I really hate missing workouts, but it
was a necessity for me to stay healthy and let my body rest. Listening to my body and learning how to make
training adjustments is the most important thing I have learned over the last
12 weeks.
Workouts missed:
4 (actually
only 3 because I substituted the Rapid Rabbit 5 mile race for a missed workout)
Easy runs missed:
4
Easy runs added:
6
Long runs missed:
ZERO
I had only one scheduled race while training for Eugene and
that was a 5K during week 2. You can
read about it here. I substituted the 5 mile Rapid Rabbit race for a week worth
of missed workouts during week 7. You can read about RR here. Ideally, I would have liked to have run at
least a HM or a 10K, but it didn’t fit into my schedule. It is also difficult
to find races of that distance in Spokane during the winter.
When I was training for CIM, I ran three half marathons- two
of them in back to back weekends. That
also probably wasn’t ideal; however, they were all there PRs.
Moving forward after Eugene, I plan on taking a couple of
full weeks off from running. I will focus on spin and cross training, but I
think my feet need a rest. I hope to continue working with my coach in the
future as long as my crazy “type A” personality didn’t “run” him off. Ha. Poor
guy! J

Your training has been solid and wow look how many miles more you ran!! I'm thinking I might get a coach but still not sure on that. One things for sure though, you are going to ROCK Eugene!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is really inspirational. Such solid training! I think a few weeks off your feet post-race sounds very indicated. You should be feeling really proud of how well you prepared for this race, no matter what happens from now on.
ReplyDeleteWow! You are prepped for a BIG PR Tasha! Great job with the schedule and making up the missed runs.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you do this time!!
good job!!!
ReplyDeleteit makes me so happy to see that you ran really low mileage and still had a great time in CIM. Going forward I am going ot have to be a 50mile or less a week kind of girl to avoid future injury. I hope I can still get that 3:12 off that type of mileage.
YOU are going to KILL Eugene!! I'm guessing sub 3;15!! you go girl! can't wait to hear about it!
Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteNice solid training!! You are definitely ready for a PR!
ReplyDeleteYou ARE an inspiration! Makes me want to go for a run right now....and I am in my pj's! :) This post reminds me of why it's important to log your workouts. It definitely helps with the progression. :) Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThat's AMAZING! You are going to ROCK this marathon!! Cannot wait to hear all about it! :)
ReplyDeleteDang girl, you put in some HARD work! You are going to do awesome!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post and a great idea - I need to do this too, especially for future marathon training!
ReplyDeleteYour numbers look strong and seeing the comparison from your last marathon makes it clear that you are ready to ROCK it!
Good luck to you!! Have a GREAT race tomorrow! :D
