I liked to be prepared and know what my schedule looks like. Even months in advance I want to know what I have to look forward too. I love signing up for races- they are great motivation to keeping myself in check. I have currently signed up for quite a few races for 2012....I am noticing a 1/2 marathon theme...HMMMM.
January:
Houston 1/2
Frostbite 5K (yes, it usually is cold enough for frostbite)
February:
Partners in Pain 5K (I wonder if my husband will be my partner?)
March:
Snake River 1/2
St. Paddy's 5 miler
May:
Bloomsday (Potentially, but since I despise Bday, I might not run it)
Hippie Chick 1/2
Rock n Roll Portland 1/2
June:
Helvetia 1/2
Rock n Roll Seattle 1/2
July:
Newman Lake
Fueled by Wine 1/2
October:
Spokane 1/2 (will not run, if I get into the Nike Women's Marathon)
Nike Women's Marathon (IF, IF, IF I can get in)
Questions for you:
What races do you have planned for next year?
Do you find that planning races far in advance holds you more accountable in your training?
What is your favorite racing distance?
Do you have a race that you absolutely love and run it every year?

Hey Tasha
ReplyDeleteI do have a few races in mind for next year already. that's the fun of racing..you look forward to the next one and the next. I think my big concentration will be duathlons and a few half-mary's here and there. There's an ultra in the beginning of spring I've got my eye on! so excited.
hmmm, I'd have to say that I don't know my favorite race distance is yet. Maybe Half marathon? Good question.
ReplyDeletei've sort of realized that with the exception of one big race, i don't plan for the year ahead i just see what comes up
ReplyDeleteNot sure what my fav distance is yet because I only have run a half and a 10k. In high school I ran the 100 and 300 hurdles so I haven't raced a 5k...YET...so maybe that will be my fav :) I'm looking forward to doing the CDA half again because that was my first half and I love that it is pretty much all by the water and its nice and flat :) Looks like I'll be seeing you at Partners in Pain :)
ReplyDeleteLove your schedule!! How fun to do all those races! I have the LA Marathon in March, Eugene Marathon in April and the NOTHING until the Eugene Women's 1/2 in Sept. and Girlfriend's 1/2 in Oct. I'm already sad that there will be such a big gap and am already trying to figure out how to budget in another race. If only races were free :)
