I wasn't sure where I could find one in Spokane so I went to the REI website and saw that they had them. Friday on my lunch I drove over to REI to see what they had in stock. Luckily, they had several styles to choose from. I decided to purchase the 4 bottle hydration belt because it seemed like the best deal. The 2 bottle belt was less than $10 cheaper and the individual bottles retailed for $6.95. I would be paying more $$$$ if I wanted to add a bottle or two at a later date. I still can't believe that I paid $50 for a hydration belt, but it is so much better than my old one.
After my 22 mile run I came up with several reasons why I love this hydration belt....
#1 It is so light! Even with 4 filled bottles it didn't seem heavy.
#2 The Amphipod is fully customizable. You can choose where you would like to place your water bottles and at what angle to place them (horizontal OR vertical).
#3 Very little jiggling! Or I should say that it is "bounce free".
#4 The storage pouch had enough room for 3 gel packs AND my cell phone. It can also be moved around to different placements on the belt.
#5 The bottles are easy to click in and out of the holders, even while running.
#6 Since the belt is customizable you can add or take off the storage pouch or water bottles at any time.
#7 The Amphipod was comfortable around my waist and didn't bother my back.
#8 I had no chafing from the belt, even after 22 miles!
Spacious storage pouch
The Amphipod is fully customizable...water bottles can be placed where YOU want them and at different angles. The storage pouch can also be moved.
My Amphipod hydration belt. Totally worth the price!

I have the same belt and I LOVE it! Ended up losing 1 of my bottles at the Vancouver Marathon (Mom was carrying my bag with my refills and it fell out) When I went to replace it I ended up going with the 10 oz. bottles and am so glad I did. I completely agree... totally worth every penny!
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you like yours too! I debated between it and the fuel belt, but everyone said that they loved their amphipod so I figured that it had to be good. I was really surprised at how I forgot that I was actually wearing it when I was running. I am trying to decide whether or not I will wear it for CIM. I have only worn a hydration belt for long runs, but wearing it for a whole marathon makes me nervous because I wouldn't have a place to stash it if I needed too.
