Week 8: The week my mojo returned

This week flew by for me! I was really busy at work and in my spare time I was running my tail feathers off training and working on run club stuff. This was a good week for me. I managed to snag my mojo back from whoever had borrowed it. Today marks the official 12 week countdown for the Windermere Marathon.

Monday:
5 x 1 mile repeats. Target pace of 6:00- 6:15.
6:10
6:10
6:09
6:09
6:05

With my warm up + recovery jogs + cool down I ended up with 9.062 miles
Finished with 15 minutes of core, stretching & foam rolling.

Tuesday:
Before FGF I ran around the gym and did my form drills. Totaled 1.85 miles which was a nice little warm up before an awesome FGF workout. I really liked the workout; it was different, but fun!

I used 65 #s for the entire workout which consisted for 3 separate AMRAP that were 6 minutes each, 1 minute rest in between each round.

Round 1
Round 2
Round 3
Round 4
7 hang squat cleans
15 backsquats
7 squat thrusters
Max plank
13 dorothy squats
20 second “L” hang
13 burpees over bar
3:15
5 rounds + 9
4 rounds + 15
1 round + 15

Wednesday:
All day I dreaded and thought about my workout that was on the schedule, a 40 minute threshold run. Target pace of 7:00- 7:05 seemed daunting. My legs were tired. Tired from mile repeats on Monday and tired from FGF on Tuesday. They were even tired just thinking about attempting to run a half marathon on Saturday. Poor tired legs.

As soon as I got home I put my game face on, had a light snack and got ready to rock out my run with some awesome tunes.

10 minute easy warm up
Stretch, quick breather, and mental pep talk
40 minutes….ready set go!

Mile 1   7:02
Mile 2   7:02
Mile 3   7:01
Mile 4   6:59
Mile 5   6:55
.724        4:53
Total      5.724 miles, average pace 6:59
10 minute easy cool down
Total workout miles- 8.124

Followed this up with 20 minutes of core work, stretching & foam rolling.

Thursday:
Woke up feeling like I got hit by a bus. My legs were stiff and sore. Spent a good chunk of morning blogging time stretching them out.

I really debated whether or not going to FGF would be a wise decision because of the half marathon I was planning on running on Saturday. My legs were all already pretty wiped out, but in the end I decided to go FGF since the half was only a training run.

If it looks tough, it will break you

Completed 20 minutes of core plus some extra stretching and foam rolling when I got home.

Friday:
Rest day. I was sound asleep by 8:00 pm with my alarm set for my 4 am wake up call.

Saturday:
My first half marathon since May…..Spoiler alert: I finished!!! Race recap + photos to come……

Sunday:
Active recovery day. Somehow I managed to fit my bike in the bike of Allie to drive down to the Centennial Trail for a ride. I figured an hour would be a good, until I had to turn around and ride against the wind. BLAH. Managed 14.82 miles in an hour. Definitely have work to do on the bike. Don't even get me started on the swimming. :-)

Come home and completed 20 minutes of core + stretching & foam rolling.

Total miles ran: 33.26
Total miles cycled: 14.82
Weeks until Windermere: 12

Questions for you:
How was your week?
Did you race over the weekend?????

    1. Thanks Angie! The speed seemed so easy last year. This year has been a lot more difficult, but it is slowly coming back.
A dorothy squat is a squat where you jump up and click your heels. Kind of like Dorothy. :-)

    1. I am so glad that we both found our mojo. I am used to losing it every once in while, but not so soon into a training plan. That was kind of freaky!
