Friday night we went to an awesome Mexican restaurant where we indulged in the best margarita I have ever had. The shrimp tacos were fabulous too!
On Saturday we made the trek to Mt. Vernon, WA to go to the tulip festival. It was quite the adventure with some crazy traffic. The freeway was backed up for miles & miles! I didn't realize how popular tulips are! I learned that people in Mt. Vernon take their tulips quite seriously. All of the colors were absolutely amazing! I still can't figure out which tulip was my favorite- but I think I like the pink ones (of course).
We were both famished after walking around the tulip fields so we each got a chocolate and Bavarian cream funnel cake. Oh my! It was the best funnel cake I have ever had!
On our way home we stopped at the Seattle Factory outlet to do some retail therapy. I really needed some retail therapy. I bought some super cute jeans and didn't realize how much I have shrunk in size since the last time I bought jeans! I haven't been a size 25/26 since college when I was a double zero. Insane! I was definitely liking my booty in my new jeans. Now if I wasn't so short, I could wear my new jeans now. Unfortunately I have to get all of my jeans hemmed. Annoying? YES. :-)
However, the BEST purchase of the day was my Kate Spade purse that I got for $300 off!!!! Seriously, I am not joking. What a crazy good deal! I have ALWAYS wanted a Kate Spade so I was beyond thrilled. Yes, I almost did a "happy dance" around the store. I am BIG DORK!
Saturday night we hit up the most amazing sushi restaurant in downtown Seattle where I proceeded to stuff my face with sushi. I also may have had a gin martini...or two. We both commented as we were leaving that we had huge food babies and needed to be in sweats STAT. LOL. :-)
I woke up on Sunday thinking "holy crap! 7 days until Eugene!!!!". Eeeek! I can't believe that at the end of this next week I will have run my 4th and hopefully my best marathon yet. I had 10 miles at marathon pace on the schedule so we drove over to Green Lake. It was another beautiful day in Seattle and everyone and their dog was outside. Had to do a lot of weaving through people because their was also some type of walk a thon event going on that had hundreds of participants. Hence, why there was no parking and we had to park over a half a mile away. Oh well! :-)
Leaving Seattle with 71 degrees....arrived to Spokane with 83 degrees. What a perfect day!
I got these 2 t-shirts at the NIKE outlet...I thought they were good running mojo shirts! :-)
Questions for you:
Has anyone else braved the crazy traffic to go to the tulip festival in Mt. Vernon?
Did you do anything fun over the weekend?

Those tulips are gorgeous! I went to buy some the other day (I live in NYC) and they were $8 for 8 of them-- eek--- I couldn't pay it
ReplyDeletexo
Oh my goodness- I wouldn't be able to pay that much either!
DeleteGlad you had such a fun girl's weekend:) I love the tulip festival but haven't been there since my kids were little. So pretty. Congrats on the 10 miles! I love that first shirt! That is one of my favorite quotes:) So true and I think that often while out on my runs.
ReplyDeleteI know, right? If I stop I either won't get home or it will take me forever. :-)
DeleteNice work. Love me some retail therapy. I've always wanted to get a designer purse, but haven't bit the bullet. I really want a classic Coach purse. Maybe someday...
ReplyDeleteLauren go to the Coach outlet! Isn't there one in Woodburn and one in Lincoln City? They are way cheaper there. I would never pay full price for a Coach.
DeleteI am so so jealous! Tulips are my favorite flowers! :)
ReplyDeleteThey were all so beautiful and there were literally thousands of them. :-)
DeleteI've braved the tulips! It's worth it at least once. Love the Kate Spade - maybe one day for me.
ReplyDeleteI agree- the traffic was so crazy so I don't know when I will brave it again. It was over 70 degrees there so everyone was outside. Made for a fun day!
DeleteI was SO thankful for the temps this weekend too! to finally sweat outside?! I was missing this! Have a safe trip to Eugene and GOOD LUCK! Hope you and Harmony connect!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jess!!! Is Harmony running now??? I thought I saw on her blog she wasn't. I would love to meet up with her if she is going.
DeleteGah- I need a girls weekend! How fun. And I LOVE the shirts!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I thought the shirts were kind of fun :-)
DeleteI never been to the tulip festival but one of my photographer friends went this year and took a lot of pics. It looks like a nice place to visit all the pretty flowers, and even worth the drive.
ReplyDeleteThe whole area is great and there is great shopping. :-)
Deletehow fun! I think I'm due for some retail therapy too! Looks like a blast. See you this weekend!!
ReplyDeleteYahoo! See you so soon- maybe after Eugene you can indulge in some retail therapy?

ReplyDeleteI hear ya on getting jeans hemmed. It really is annoying!
I forgot how much fun girls weekends are- need to have more of them. :-)
DeleteThose tulips are beautiful!! Love the Kate Spade purse!! Sounds like you had an amazing weekend and Mmm I want sushi now!
ReplyDeleteI love sushi, but my husband won't even try it so I hardly ever get it. Boo!
DeleteYour weekend looks funorama! Those tulips remind me of the flower scene in The Wizard of Oz! That funnel cake also looks scrumptious, I've never tried one! And Nike always has the best "quote shirts", I have one that says "Just do it anyway".
