April Foodie Pen Pals

About this time last month I kept on seeing all of these comments on Twitter about #foodiepenpals. Curiosity, got me so I went and checked out Lindsay's blog @ The Lean Green Bean to see what it was all about. In short, it is the awesome program that Lindsay started that pairs you up with a different pen pal each month where you exchange food items. Neat idea, huh?! The program started with 30 participants and has now grown to 600! I don't know how Lindsay keeps it all straight, but she does an outstanding job. Here are the program details with the link to sign up if you are interested in joining:

-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.

-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal

-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!

-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)

-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.

-Foodie Penpals is open to US & Canadian residents.  Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We've determined things might get too slow and backed up if we're trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa.

If you’re interested in participating for May, please CLICK HERE to fill out the participation form and read the terms and conditions.

I was so excited to receive my first Foodie Pen Pals package in the mail. I got paired with Christie who blogs over at Roller Koester Run. (Go check out her blog, it is awesome!) Christie is also a runner, who happens to live in North Carolina. Kind of neat to get paired with someone who lives clear across the country.

Christie did an AWESOME job with my package!!!  I was so excited to open it when it came in the mail. Since I am not much of a picky eater she asked me what my favorite snacks were.  She nailed everything and her note was so sweet! My package included a little of everything I told Christie that I liked; white chocolate, dried fruit, & granola treats. She included Clif Bars, Clif Mojo bars, Lindor white chocolate and granola. It was perfect and also made for good snacks on my road trip to Eugene for my marathon. The Lindor white chocolate is sooooo good. I will need to buy more of it soon! If you like the combination of sweet/salty you have got to check out Mojo bars. They are so good! :-)

Thanks Christie!!!!

    1. Haha- yes I did get paired with someone who has a really cool name! Speaking of cool names, my massage therapist tonight was "Tasha". Weird. It's not like my name is super popular or anything...
