10 days & what should I wear?!

The Eugene Marathon is officially 10 days away. Where has the time gone?! I will leave for Eugene exactly ONE week from today. Yesterday I attempted to start making both a packing & a to do list. Normally I would take care of this over the weekend, however, I am driving to Seattle on Friday after work. I am going to see my college bestie for a couple of days. Hopefully that will sidetrack my marathon brain from thinking about all things marathon.

I was in a hurry so  there are typos....

So my HUGE dilemma is what to wear on race day. My accessories are set. Although, I might not wear my black NIKE visor.

Option #1 is my "safe" outfit...my comfortable outfit. Option #2 is my "daring" outfit. Is the world, particular spectators & participants in Eugene ready to see my abs?! I don't have a "flabby" stomach and I also don't have a "6 pack".....I posed the sports bra VS sports tank question on my twitter yesterday. Everyone said to  rock the sports bra. I also texted my good friend Meredith who is running Eugene and she also told me if I was comfortable to wear the sports bra. WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

As you can tell, I love Brooks! Both options of bra are the same color. :-)

Option #1
Brooks arm sleeves
CEP compression sleeves
Brooks Infiniti short tight
Brooks Epiphany bra tank

Option #2
Brooks arm sleeves
CEP compression sleeves
Brooks Infiniti short tight
Brooks Epiphany bra

Accessories:
Pink Sweat shoelaces
Black NIKE Visor
NIKE Vomero sunglasses
Garmin
Brooks ST5s

Questions for you:

Main question is what in the heck should I wear? It has only taken me over 2 weeks to get to this point.

Second question for you is do you also have problems deciding what to wear on race day? Is it just a problem that I have?

  1. I think it depends on the temperature! If it will be super warm, go with option 2!

I don't have a ton of options for my triathlons so I usually wear the same thing every race!

    1. I am going to bring both and then see what the weather looks like. I don't wanna freeze!

  2. First of all, I think you'll look great in whatever option you choose. Have you done any training runs in just a sports bra? If not, you might feel weird just because it is something new/different.
I also obsess over race attire!

    1. Thanks Beth, that was so kind of you to say. Yes, I have done several training runs in just a sports bra. I just don't have "spectators" on training runs. However, who will actually know me in Eugene? Does it really matter? Yes, I need to stop obsessing!

  3. I agree with Erika, depends on the weather. If it's nice, I would rock the sports bra. You will look cute either way! Have fun visiting your friend this weekend. It is supposed to be nice here this weekend:)

  4. Rock the sports bra, I would if my first child hadn't made such a mess out of my belly skin when I was carrying him in there.

I do also go nuts trying to decide what to wear for a race, but I want to be comfy and look good :)

    1. Thanks Christy! I am not sure if I will rock the sports bra or not. I probably won't decide until the last minute....

  5. I think it's a decision everyone struggles with! What to wear during a race is a BIG decision!! OK-- maybe not life changing, but still big!

I'd say rock the sports bra if it's hot out. You look great and you'll feel much cooler. If it's not supposed to be hot, then do whichever you feel best in. The more confident you are, the more likely you are to perform your best!

    GOOD LUCK!!!

  6. Both the outfits are awesome and I would wear the one you have the most confidence in. I would wear the tank but thats me and I wouldn't feel comfortable in just the bra but, I probably will some day since it does have its benefits :) I ponder what I want to wear as well, I even try on the outfits to see which I like the best and then run in it if I like it to make sure it doesn't bug me while running, ect.

    1. I will need to see which one I can channel Desi in...hmmm. What would Desi wear- probably the tank!

  7. I think I talked about this on my site before, but for me, it all comes down to what will work best for me on race day. I'd say if it's hot, go w/ the sports bra. If not, wear the singlet. Actually, do either in any weather--I fully intended to take my singlet off at Boston due to temps, but found that having a shirt that was retaining some of the cold water I was pouring on myself helped immensely. You're going to look great in either!

    1. Thanks Amanda! I just want to feel comfortable, I know that even if it is chilly I will warm up over the first couple of miles. I also have the arm sleeves for added warmth.

  8. I think you'll be comfortable in either, if you are used to wearing just a jog bra. Both outfits would look great. Have you raced in just the bra before, with a fuel belt? Do you use a handheld or go to the stations? I like the visor! I might be wearing the same shorts as you..but I am still undecided on my race attire too. You are WAY ahead of me!

    1. I haven't raced in either, but I have done lots of training runs in both. I have an ampiphod belt for gels that I have used in long runs. I don't use a hand held so I will be stopping at every other water station....at least that is the plan from my coach. I like the visor, however, I really wish that Brooks had an all black one. I have the white/black Broosk visor, but I am matchy, matchy and I don't think it looks good with the outfits I picked out as options. The infiniti shorts are awesome!!! I love them!

  9. If it's hot, rock the sports bra if you're comfy in it! I do none of my training in a sports bra, so I would never, but if that's what I did and that's what I felt comfortable in, I wouldn't think twice!

  10. First of all, I LOVE that you are a Brooks fan (thanks!!). I love racing in sports bra's - so that's always my 1st choice. What is the weather going to be like? If it's anything over 50, I say sports bra. You'll be happy you did! Good luck in Eugene - I wish I could run it (after my Boston debacle), ha. You are going to rock it. SO excited for you!!!!!!

    1. Yes, Melody I have been a huge Brooks fan since my freshman year of college. Made the switch from Nikes and haven't looked back! The weather is going to be in 50s and 60s (I believe) so I could go either way. Of course I will probably wait until the last freaking minute to decide. Hahaha. :-)

    2. Oh, and BTW you TOTALLY rock the sports bra chica!!!! If I had abs like yours I wouldn't think twice!

  11. I find it difficult picking outfits for most events! Both of your choices look great though. I'd go by the weather?

    1. Yep, I am going to decide once I get to Eugene and see what the weather is like. Probably won't fully decide until the morning of the race. EEEK.

  12. hope you have so much fun this weekend!! I think both outfits are super cute and either one would be a win. Like everyone I think it just depends on the weather. I'm exited for you to rock this race next weekend!

  13. Hey! I like both options! What's the weather going to be like?? If it's warm go with option 2, if it's going to be cooler, then go with 1. :)

    1. I think it might be on the cooler side. Still too early to tell, but I am already tracking the weather in Eugene.

  14. Both times I ran Eugene, it was chilly at the start. Make sure you bring a throw away jacket.

Also, since you can, rock the sports bra! How many women can actually do that (not me!) so go for it.

    1. Thanks Kim- great to know! I was planning on bringing some throwaways for the start so that I can stay warm. I am always cold so I like to be prepared.

  15. Tasha!!! You have to wear the sports bra. For one, I know Dorothy from mile posts and others who have had multiple children can still rock the sports bra but she is the minority and no matter what after you have kids even if you have killer abs the skin is never the same...so all that to say while you have the 'pre-kids abs'---ROCK IT, girlfriend. Yes, I obsess over race day attire. I haven't decided yet... :) Excited for you. Pre race jitters are just part of the excitement. I can't seem to shake mine this week!!
