I met Desi

Friday night we were sitting in the lobby of the Four Seasons in Houston trying to decide where to eat dinner. For the record, downtown Houston has NO restaurants that were in close proximity to where the convention center or the host hotel were. Slightly annoying. Anyways we are sitting in the lobby and I happen to glance up and notice 5 people walking in wearing grey Hanson's jackets, one of them being Desi. I told my friends from Spokane that Desi Davila just walked by and they were like "where"?! I pointed her out and then they said I should say something...of course I freaked out! I didn't even know what to say, but then they walked by again.....I had to say something!

Me: Good luck tomorrow Desi!
Desi: (walks over) Good luck to you too!
Me: (laughing!)Uh, I am not running tomorrow....I am running the 1/2 on Sunday.
Desi: Oh, thats great! Good luck!
Me: Thanks! I definitely don't think I could keep up with you. My 1/2 PR is 1:33:XX
Desi: That is a great time!
Me: (freaking out!) Thanks! Can I have my picture with you?
Desi: Sure!

This totally made my trip to Houston worth every penny! My friends were freaking out because I am talking to Desi like its no big deal, but inside I was freaking out because I was talking to Desi! They thought that I handled the whole "good luck to you" comment quite well. I mean seriously...Desi thought that I looked like I was running in the Trials???!!! ME????!!!! Looks like I need to step it up a couple of notches. :-)

  5. Nicole- I live in Spokane, but grew up on the Oregon Coast. All of my family still live in OR so that is why I am there so often.

Kris- Never in a million, gazillion years could I make the Trials, but thanks for having that much faith in me!
